CGPSC Mains Exam Pattern
To clear the CGPSC examination, you will have to prepare 7 papers total, each with 200 marks. You will get 3 hours to clear each paper, and if you manage to score above the general cut-off marks or reservation cut-off marks, you will be selected for the interview round. CGPSC Main Syllabus
Paper – I Language
This paper is a language-based examination, and it will involve all three official languages of the state, Hindi, English, and Chattisgarh Language.

Topics include antonyms, synonyms, precis writing, sentence correction, suffix, and prefix.
Important Topics For English
Topics such as comprehension, synonyms, phrases & idioms, tenses, prepositions, part of speech, active voice, passive voice, among other topics.

Topics such as Chhattisgarh language grammar, sentence formation, knowledge, and history of the language.
Paper-II Essay
This paper is all about essays related to three topics-
Chhattisgarh State Issues
Aspirants will have to write two essays on Chhattisgarh’s state issues, reasons, current status, data, and solutions.
National Issues and International Issues
Aspirants will have to write two essays on national and international issues and their reasons, current status, data, and solutions.
Paper – III General Studies I
Paper III will mostly involve general studies on the history of India, the Constitution & Public Administration, and the general history of the state. It will include history from the pre-historic age to independence and partition affairs.
Paper – IV General Studies II
This paper will focus on 3 parts-
- General science such as the basics of physics, chemistry, and biology.
- Logical reasoning, mental ability, and aptitude.
- Behavioural and applied science.
Paper – V General Studies III
The fifth paper will revolve around the geography and economy of the state of Chhattisgarh and the country.
Paper – VI General Studies IV
The sixth paper will focus on questions based on philosophy, sociology, and social aspects of the state of Chhattisgarh.
Paper – VII General Studies V
The last paper will be based on the following topics-
- Welfare and development of programs and laws
- Organisation and events related to national and international sports
